Optiscan is a global leader in the development of endomicroscopic imaging technologies for medical, translational and pre-clinical applications.
More than meets the eye… Optiscan required a website redevelopment to better communicate their highly specialised product to a niche audience of doctors and medical researchers.
⇧ Improved admin workflows through a better backend structure
⇧ An intuitive user experience for clients to login and find product information
Optiscan had a lot of content on their previous website, but struggled to clearly communicate their offering. Blitzm Design was brought onboard to help create a system to better organise Optiscan’s content, and design a website that would tell their story through a simple UX and clean UI. In addition to the public facing front end of the website, we also built a secure area where clients could login to view product manuals and documentation.
Website redevelopment process:
We followed our standard development process with Optiscan, kicking off with workshops to understand their offering and desired outcomes before proceeding to wireframes and UI design. The front end website design was focused on creating a simple navigational structure, which we pulled together quickly for feedback and approval.
The secure area of the website was more complicated due to the highly technical content, which also required a very simple editing experience through the CMS. Legacy processes combined with a significant library of content made it complicated and inefficient for Optiscan to manage the product documentation. So improving the backend processes was a core focus for Blitzm Design.
Website wireframes, UX, UI, and testing:
We built a live prototype to help map out the new UX for both visitors and administrators of the website. This enabled Optiscan to understand the workflows and provide feedback to ensure the final product perfectly suited their needs.
Information categorisation was an important detail to get right. Therefore, we took care to ensure the application notes were ordered according to a standard taxonomy, and designed a coherent content library that was intuitive for both users and admins.
The website enables visitors to easily understand the product and helps Optiscan build their reputation amongst their niche target audience. Management of the website backend has been simplified, improving the administrator and visitor experience for the content library.
